Weapons complaint in Oshkosh leads to arrest of 25-year-old after police find child porn & gun contraption

OSHKOSH, Wis. (WFRV) – A 25-year-old man in Oshkosh was arrested after authorities reportedly found child pornography and a spring-loaded gun aimed at the entrance door.

According to the Oshkosh Police Department, on April 24 around 4:10 p.m., officers responded to a reported weapons complaint in the 800 block of Central Street. Authorities reportedly learned that someone had allegedly been firing a gun in the residence.

Officials say that the suspect ended up leaving the residence and was taken into custody. The release says that multiple bullets penetrated the walls of the home and impacted a nearby residence.

There were no reported injuries from this incident.

Additionally, authorities got information regarding a firearm that was set up facing the entrance door that was rigged to fire when someone opened the door. Officers safely entered the residence and found the firearm.

The gun was confirmed to be unloaded, and the setup was reportedly rendered safe.

Authorities further searched the residence and found more ‘alarming findings’. Child sexual abuse materials were allegedly found in the suspect’s possession.

The suspect was identified as a 25-year-old man from Oshkosh. He was reportedly placed in jail on multiple criminal charges.

The Oshkosh Police Department says it is urging residents to report suspicious activities immediately. In this case, authorities say that those who reported the reckless firearm discharge possibly prevented a dangerous situation.
