Police officer & firefighter in Wisconsin arrested for child enticement, relieved of duties

SPARTA, Wis. (WFRV) – A 26-year-old police officer and firefighter in Wisconsin was arrested on Friday related to an investigation into child enticement.

According to the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office, officers took Peter Schneider, 26, into custody on March 1, after evidence revealed on several occasions, he allegedly requested explicit photos from a 17-year-old victim. Schenider also reportedly asked the victim to go into a private area for sexual contact.

At the time, Schneider was employed by the Ho-Chunk Police Department and was a firefighter with the Sparta Area Fire District. The initial information about the incident was brought to the attention of officials, who immediately took action and relieved Schneider from his duties with both agencies.

“Both agencies showed the utmost professionalism in their cooperation with the sheriff’s office’s investigation,” added Monroe County Sheriff Wesley Revels.

The Monroe County Sheriff’s Office says during the bond hearing, Judge Mark Goodman ordered Schneider be held on a $1,500 cash bond.
