Officers respond to vehicle’s ‘squealing tires,’ Wisconsin man arrested for 4 OWI

MIDDLETON, Wis. (WFRV) – A man from southcentral Wisconsin was arrested on his fourth OWI charge after officers were first called to reports of a truck that was “squealing its tires.”

According to the Middleton Police Department, officers were made aware of the squealing tires just before 1 a.m. on April 13.

When officers were responding to the scene in the 7600 block of Lisa Lane, a truck that matched the previous description was spotted at a nearby gas station.

The officer reported seeing the driver of the truck, later identified as Liam McDermott, allegedly ‘accelerate rapidly’ as he was leaving the gas station, reportedly causing the vehicle to fishtail. 

During a traffic stop, an officer reported McDermott to be showing signs of impairment; allegedly including a strong odor of alcohol on McDermott’s breath, slurred speech, and red and glossy eyes.

The 28-year-old from Middleton was arrested for Operating a motor vehicle While Intoxicated – 4th Offense and was booked into the Dane County Jail.
