Manitowoc County man dead after major crash involving pickup truck and semi

MANITOWOC, Wis. (WFRV) – An 81-year-old Manitowoc County man is dead following a two-vehicle crash involving a semi and a pickup truck on State Highway 151.

According to the Manitowoc Police Department, shortly after 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, officers were sent to State Highway 151 at State Highway 42 for a pickup truck that was reportedly hit by a semi.

A preliminary investigation of the accident reveals that the pickup truck was westbound on Calumet Avenue (State Highway 151) and turned to travel southbound on State Highway 42.

The pickup truck driver, later identified as an 81-year-old man from Valders, turned in front of the semi that was eastbound on Calumet Avenue. The semi driver, a 24-year-old Manitowoc man, was uninjured during the collision.

Despite life-saving efforts from witnesses and emergency medical services, the 81-year-old man was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash.

A crash reconstruction is being conducted by the Wisconsin State Patrol. The identities of the two individuals involved in the crash are not being released publicly at this time.
