GREEN BAY, Wis. (WFRV) – A woman from Green Bay was officially charged with homicide after allegedly stabbing her boyfriend in the neck.

On April 13, officers with the Green Bay Police Department were sent to a possible stabbing at a residence in the 1300 block of Smith Street. When officers got to the scene, a man was found with a knife sticking out of his neck with a large pool of blood, the criminal complaint said.

Tonia Piontek, 45, was at the scene and was detained by the responding authorities.

A witness at the scene reportedly told officers they heard arguing between Piontek and the victim, followed by stomping, door slamming and what they thought was a physical disturbance.

Later that day, a detective interviewed Piontek, and she showed what appeared to be dark bruising on her forearms, the complaint said. She then reportedly told the detective that she would not talk before speaking with an attorney.

The transcript of the 911 call allegedly made by Piontek was included in the complaint. Piontek started the call by saying ‘I just stabbed my boyfriend, I don’t think he’s okay someone needs to get here now!,’ according to the criminal complaint.

During that call, she said she and her boyfriend were fighting, the complaint said. The transcript also shows that Piontek said both the victim and she were drinking that day.

Piontek is charged with:

  • First degree intentional homicide, use of a dangerous weapon, domestic abuse assessments
    • Felony
    • Up to life in prison

Court records show Piontek is scheduled to be in court on April 15 for her initial appearance. Her cash bond was set at $1 million and is scheduled to be back in court on April 29 at 2 p.m.
