Green Bay Police Department co-hosting three locations for Drug Take Back Day

GREEN BAY, Wis. (WFRV) – The Green Bay Police Department (GBPD) is partnering with three medical centers to co-host National Prescription Drug Take Back Day on April 27.

Drug Take Back Day offers Brown County residents, and all Wisconsinites, the ability to safely dispose of expired, unused, and unwanted prescription drugs and over-the-counter medications.

The GBPD has partnered with HSHS St. Mary’s Hospital Medical Center, Bellin Health, and Aurora BayCare Medical Center, in conjunction with the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA), to provide a place where those medications can safely be disposed of.

Officials noted that people dropping off medications should remain in their vehicle and a volunteer will come to collect their items. Participants are asked to cross out identifying information on the containers, not turn in anything sharp, and are reminded that only prescription and over-the-counter medications are accepted.

Meijer also announced that its pharmacy locations will be participating in Drug Take Back Day during pharmacy hours of 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on April 27.
