Green Bay-native set to make debut on CBS’ FBI show

GREEN BAY, Wis. (WFRV) – Matthew Wautier-Rodriguez went into high school not knowing whether acting was for him, but he graduated from Green Bay Southwest High School in 2019 confident that it was his calling in life.

“I wasn’t actually going to go the day of, but one of my friends was like, just go man, just see what happens. I went and actually ended up getting Kenickie in Grease,” he said of his freshman-year performance. “I got to show real emotion and feel real things, and that’s when it showed me the power of theatre.”

That led him to pursue acting at UW-Stevens Point, where he graduated in the spring of 2023. Less than a year out of school, he is already making appearances on Law and Order and the FBI. His FBI debut comes on April 23, 2024, at 7 p.m. CT on Local 5.

“This is something that I realized that I had to do for the rest of my life,” he said. “It’s always surreal. I think every actor dreams of getting that call and email.”

He plays a suspect in the FBI but does not give away any hints about whether he is guilty.

“Maybe I did do it, and maybe I didn’t. I guess you’ll have to see the show to find out,” Wautier-Rodriguez said.

In high school, he represented Wisconsin at the National High School Musical Theatre Awards and encouraged aspiring actors to chase their dreams.

“If you love it, do it. Because that’s what’s going to separate you in this field. Everyone is talented, but not everyone loves it and has a passion for it.”
