Garage fire in Green Bay causes around $70K in damages

GREEN BAY, Wis. (WFRV) – Around $70,000 of damage was caused by a garage fire on Wednesday morning on Green Bay’s west side.

Authorities were sent to the 1300 block of Argonne Drive at around 10:45 a.m. When they arrived on the scene, they found a two-stall garage with fire coming through the roof and heavy black smoke.

After firefighters were able to get the situation under control, they found one 20-pound and one 100-pound propane tank damaged by extreme heat and slowly leaking.

The Green Bay HAZMAT team arrived to assist with the venting of the tanks to mitigate any potential danger from the damaged high-pressure tanks. Air quality readings were also monitored during operations.

The total estimated damage is around $70,000. There were no injuries to civilians or firefighters, and the cause remains under investigation.
