Complaint: Green Bay man stabbed his sponsor multiple times, was having ‘thoughts in his head’

(WFRV) – The details of a deadly Green Bay stabbing in late January were released as a man was officially charged after allegedly stabbing and killing his sponsor and a dog.

According to a criminal complaint obtained by Local 5, 34-year-old James Dorr was arrested and charged with homicide after a stabbing on January 28. The complaint says on January 28 around 8:50 p.m. officers responded to a report of a man laying in an apartment in the 1500 block of Capitol Drive with blood around him.

When officers got to the scene, they opened the door to the apartment and saw a body with a dried red substance near the door and entrance. The victim was seen with a ‘large’ wound to his chest.

The complaint says that multiple knives were seen on the kitchen table full of a dried red substance. While officers were searching the residence, a dog was found dead under a bed.

The dog reportedly had at least one ‘sharp force wound’, according to the complaint.

Dorr was identified as a possible suspect as officers reportedly identified him as the victim’s roommate. Items were found at the apartment, including Dorr’s wallet.

One day later on January 29 around 1:40 p.m., officers saw a person matching Dorr’s description near West Mason Street. Authorities were able to take Dorr into custody after Dorr allegedly resisted arrest and tried to run.

Authorities interviewed Dorr who reportedly admitted to stabbing the victim. In the complaint he is quoted with saying ‘Yeah I did, and his dog too,’ when asked about stabbing the victim.

Dorr told authorities that he stayed at the apartment with the victim and the victim was his sponsor. During the interview, Dorr reportedly said the dog was barking when he stabbed the victim and it bit him.

Dorr also reportedly said he was having ‘thoughts’ in his head and thought the world was ending. The complaint said that Dorr mentioned he wanted to save the victim during the interview.
