Brick Fest Live, Family-friendly Interactive Lego Exhibition stops in Green Bay

GREEN BAY, Wis. (WFRV) – Lego lovers found more than 1 million bricks at the Resch Expo over the weekend at Brick Fest Live.

Organizers at the event said it is meant to inspire and educate future architects and entertain communities with hands-on activities and attractions.

“There’s lots of hard-to-find merch,” explained Gilbert Delgado, Brick Fest Live’s Floor Manager. “Sets that you can’t always find anywhere else so that’s always a big thing too and just the community getting to know each other.”

It’s a family-friendly event that even the Wood family could not miss out on so for Cara Wood’s birthday, her parents drove up from Omro to surprise her with a day at the Brick Fest Live.

“It was a surprise!” said Wood. “I like that you can just build whatever from your imagination, just like do whatever, it’s fun!”

Brick Fest Live is the largest and number one most-attended event for Lego fans because of all the attractions including their life-size models made from tens of thousands of bricks.

“Our life-size models are a big hit,” said Delgado. “We’re doing Greek mythology so we have a giant cyclops, a giant hydra, it’s 8 feet tall.”

Cara Wood is a builder at heart and said her favorite part of the event was the life-sized models because it was hard to believe someone dedicated so much time to create something that amazing.

“It’s definitely pretty overwhelming to think that they did that,” she said. “I would definitely like to learn how to do that.”

For every Brick Fest Live event, a Lego Master will be in attendance to meet and greet kids who want to be future builders.

Patrick Durham is a Lego Master from season 3 of ‘LEGO Masters’ and told Local 5’s Samantha Petters that the greatest gift of Lego building is the art of creating something beautiful out of tiny bricks.

“Imagination is perfect because it helps us realize, whether we pay that much attention to it or not, that we all have creativity,” explained Durham. “It’s in here, we just have to find a way to bring that creativity out.”
