(WFRV) – Three Wisconsin craft brewing businesses have been named to the top 50 U.S. Craft Brewing Companies of 2023.
The Brewers Association released its annual list of the top 50 producing craft brewing companies and overall brewing companies in the U.S., based on beer sales volume. Of the top 50 overall brewing companies in 2023, 40 were small and independent craft brewing companies.

“While distribution is as competitive as ever, we continue to see success stories and pockets of growth across the top 50 list,” said Bart Watson, vice president of strategy and chief economist of the Brewers Association. “Even in an era of slow growth, the strongest brands still resonate with beer drinkers, regardless of company size or location.”
New Glarus Brewing Co. was Wisconsin’s highest entry at #11 for craft brewing and #21 for overall brewing. Home of the famous farmhouse ale, “Spotted Cow,” New Glarus Brewing Co. has made a name for itself through limited-time releases and year-round favorites such as “Moon Man,” “Two Women,” and “Raspberry Tart.”
Following New Glarus Brewing Co. was Stevens Point Brewery, ranked #19 for craft brewing and #29 for overall brewing. Stevens Point Brewery also thrives off its year-round selections such as its “Special Lager,” “Drop Dead Blonde,” and “Amber Lager.” The business also has several seasonal brews, most famously its “Oktoberfest” beer.
Wisconsin’s final entry belongs to Minhas Craft Brewery, which earned #29 for craft brewing and #39 for overall brewing. Best known for its “Boxer Boxer Lager,” Minhas Craft Brewery also has some hits with “Lazy Mutt Farmhouse Ale,” “Huber Bock,” 1845 Pils,” and “Swiss Amber.”

D.G. Yuengling and Son Inc., Boston Beer Co., and Sierra Nevada Brewing Co. were the top three craft brewing companies. Of the top 50 overall brewing companies, the top three included powerhouse Anheuser-Busch Inc., Molson Coors, and Constellation.
