15-year-old Green Bay boy charged in connection to Friday’s shooting near Preble High School

GREEN BAY, Wis. (WFRV) – A 15-year-old Green Bay boy has been charged in connection to the shooting on the city’s east side Friday that sent a 16-year-old boy to the hospital.

Court records show that Freddrick J. Love-Kennedy has been charged with attempted first-degree intentional homicide with the use of a dangerous weapon for the incident that took place on April 19 near the area of Mills Street and Village Street.

A preliminary investigation revealed the shooting may have been the result of a previous dispute involving Love-Kennedy and the 16-year-old. A firearm believed to be used in the incident was also recovered by law enforcement. Local 5 News was at the scene when Love-Kennedy was taken into custody on Friday.

Love-Kennedy made his initial appearance in court on Monday, and a cash bond was set at $100,000. Should Love-Kennedy post bond, he will not be allowed to have contact with the victim and cannot possess dangerous weapons.

As a precautionary measure, authorities had extra patrols at Green Bay Preble High School and the surrounding area on Monday.

Love-Kennedy will be back in the Brown County Courthouse on June 21 for a status conference.
