SHAWANO, Wis. (WFRV) – The Shawano School District officially broke ground Tuesday on a series of major facility projects following the approval of a $51 million capital referendum in November.
The projects will bring updates and improvements to Olga Brener Intermediate School, Hillcrest Primary School, and Shawano Community Middle School.
Lawmakers gather in De Pere to discuss impact and importance of educational funding
The November referendum succeeded after a $54.5 million proposal was narrowly defeated during the April 2024 election. The revised plan gained enough support to move forward with the much-needed upgrades.
Students attended the groundbreaking ceremony, with the middle school band providing music before the event was moved indoors due to inclement weather.
