WINNEBAGO COUNTY, Wis. (WFRV) – A recent scam has popped up for some Winnebago County residents, and authorities are urging people to stay protected and be cautious.
The Winnebago County Sheriff’s Office said that the PayPal-themed scams have been reported by residents as of late.

While a spam folder can help organize and manage some scam emails, they will still find their way into your main inbox and look very convincing if you aren’t careful.

Some of the red flags for these scams include:
- Emails not from @paypal.com
- Display names not matching the original email address
- Any mentions of Bitcoin or other cryptocurrency
- Urgency, time limit
