PRAIRIE DU CHIEN, Wis. (WFRV) – A supplier of methamphetamine and two suspected dealers in Wisconsin were recently arrested after a traffic stop prompted a large-scale investigation, leading to authorities confiscating over 350 grams of meth.
The investigation, led by the Prairie du Chien Police Department, began with a traffic stop on February 28 in the 1400 block of South Marquette Road after what officers called ‘suspicious activity.’ A K9 was called in to perform an open-air sniff on the outside of the vehicle and gave a positive alert.
During the traffic stop, officers were made aware that the passenger had methamphetamine “concealed inside a body cavity.” That suspect, later identified as 28-year-old Derek D. White of Prairie du Chien, was taken to a local hospital where roughly four grams of meth was ecentually found by medical staff and seized by officers.

The Prairie du Chien Police Department’s investigation did not stop there. With help from the Clayton County Sheriff’s Office, a residential search warrant was executed in the 1000 block of South 10th Street in Prairie du Chien later that same day.
During that search, officers reportedly seized a total of 103.52 grams of meth, THC, digital scales, and other items of drug paraphernalia, along with numerous plastic baggies of methamphetamine.
The search warrant resulted in the arrest of 43-year-old David E. Judge IV, who was also taken to the Crawford County Jail on multiple charges.
As the investigation unfolded, officers got information that a ‘larger’ supplier of meth was planning on delivering more meth to Prairie du Chien. That information ultimately led to a high-risk traffic stop on US Highway 35 in Ferryville.
With help from the Clayton County Sheriff’s Office, Crawford County Sheriff’s Office, the Wisconsin State Patrol, and the same K9 from the earlier traffic stop, 252 grams of meth were found and seized from the alleged supplier’s vehicle. La Crosse resident Eugene J. Spears, 44, was arrested as a result.
