(WFRV) – After leading Appleton North to its first conference title and state tournament appearance, Lightning head coach Chris Kellett released a statement on social media that he is stepping down.
“This decision to step away was not because of the lack of appreciation or love for Appleton North,” said Kellett. “This program, the players, and this community mean a great deal to me. However, the time away from my family has taken a toll, and I feel it is important for me to be more present and invest in helping develop my own children.”
This past year, Appleton North was led by senior Will Sweeney, Nathan Ramus and Grant Hardy, finishing the season with a 24-5 record before falling to Wisconsin Lutheran in the state semifinal game.
