GREENVILLE, Wis. (WFRV) – It’s been quite a busy 10+ days for Storm Team 5, and it was busy again on Wednesday morning, but it was all in the name of education and fun.
Retiree in Wisconsin becomes one-woman cleanup crew
After doing the morning newscast on Wednesday, Storm Team 5 Meteorologist Jordan Lamers spent the rest of his morning at Greenville Middle School, teaching over 100 6th graders about his job and weather patterns.
Jordan explained some of the crucial aspects of being a meteorologist, including how to detail a weather pattern and the differences between watches and warnings, while highlighting severe weather.
Jordan said it was something he had actually dreamt of doing since he was a child, because of similar experiences.

“When I was in 2nd grade in Little Chute, a local meteorologist came to do a school talk about forecasting on TV,” Jordan said. “Since that point, it was my goal to do the same thing. To live out my dream and have a full-circle moment with these kids has been special.”
Jordan said it was extra special for him as well, because of the recent crazy weather pattern in northeast Wisconsin, which may have contributed to the students’ significant interest.
“It seemed like the kids were very responsive to the severe weather portion since our weather has been so active this April,” Jordan said. “I hope I’ve inspired them to be prepared for the next storm as we enter the warm months of the year, and instead of being scared, be prepared.”
While it was a presentation of weather knowledge, Jordan also got the chance to show off some sweet experiments, like a tornado in a bottle and a vortex cannon that shot out fog.
