NEW LONDON, Wis. (WFRV) – The City of New London announced Saturday morning that there is a ‘hard closure’ to civilian traffic throughout downtown due to shifting flood waters.
A Facebook post states that the most affected areas are on Shawano Street and North Water Street.
“From this point on, if you are observed operating your vehicle in the downtown area, there is a possibility of being ticketed and/or legal consequences,” the post reads.

The ban is to prevent further damage to homes and businesses from shifting flood waters.
Also on Saturday morning, New London officials announced that they no longer need volunteers for sandbagging.
“The Wolf River looks to be around the projected crest and at this time we are shifting attention from flood prevention to gathering information on the current state of flooding in the city and then recovery,” city officials said.
