DE PERE, Wis. (WFRV) – A hands-on workshop in De Pere gave people a chance to explore a centuries-old Easter tradition on Easter weekend.
At the Mulva Cultural Center, participants learned the art of ‘pysanky,’ a traditional Ukrainian egg-decorating technique.
The workshop walked people through the wax-resist technique, in which designs are drawn in stages before being dipped in dye to create intricate patterns with deep cultural meaning.
Organizers say it’s more than just art; it’s a way to connect with history, heritage, and creativity all in one experience.

“We love bringing these kinds of multi-modal workshops that are both educational and artistic and spark people’s curiosity to learn about something that maybe they have never heard of before,” stated Mulva Cultural Center Education & Programs Manager Carrie Ryan.
Instructors stated that no experience was needed, and everyone left with a one-of-a-kind creation while also gaining a deeper appreciation for a tradition passed down through generations.
