The caller told dispatchers they believed they knew the suspect and provided a description of the vehicle involved. When deputies arrived, they located several shell casings in the driveway while processing the scene and speaking with neighbors.
Authorities say the suspect was later seen driving past the residence. Deputies attempted a traffic stop, but the driver — identified as Desmond L. Smith, 25 — fled, prompting a pursuit.
Smith eventually crashed after traveling several miles and ran into a nearby wooded area. With assistance from local residents, deputies located and arrested him without further incident.
