EASTMAN, Wis. (WFRV) – Authorities in Wisconsin say one person is in custody after a crash Sunday night resulted in a serious injury.
According to a release from the Crawford County Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded around 7:51 p.m. to North Main Street at Coffin Street in the Village of Eastman for reports of a two-vehicle crash.

Officials say 19-year-old John Miller from Gilman was heading south on North Main Street in his 2014 Dodge Durango when he lost control on a curve, crossed the center line, and crashed into the front driver’s side of a 2020 Chevrolet Equinox driven by 50-year-old Patrick Wall from Eastman.
The impact from the crash knocked Wall’s vehicle off the roadway and into a home. Wall needed to be extricated from his vehicle and was taken by ambulance to Crossing Rivers Health with severe injuries.

Deputies report that weather and road conditions were poor at the time of the crash. The street was said to be icy and snow-covered. Investigating officials determined Miller had been traveling at a very high rate of speed in an area with a posted speed limit of 25 miles per hour.
Miller was arrested and taken to the Crawford County Jail on charges of Reckless Driving Causing great Bodily Harm. He was also cited for driving too fast for the conditons.
