(WFRV) – Recent temperature swings all throughout the northeast Wisconsin area can mean the start of spring allergy season.
With trees beginning to bloom and plants starting to come back, health experts with ThedaCare say the levels of pollen in the air start to rise, which can lead to sneezing, runny noses, and itchy eyes for many throughout the area.

They add that one of the better ways to stay ahead of possible symptoms is to start using common allergy medications before the allergies start to get worse.
Zyrtec, Allegra, Claritin, those are going to help control those symptoms. And you can start taking those daily even before, you know, allergies are going to start. So if it’s becoming springtime, you know, you have bad allergies. You can start taking those medications to help prevent those symptoms from happening.

May also recommends showering and changing clothes after spending time outside. Another option can be to check daily “pollen counts” to help know when to reduce outdoor exposure during peak allergy days.
