MILWAUKEE, Wis. (WFRV) – Multiple Milwaukee police officers are on administrative duty following an afternoon critical incident that left a suspect hospitalized in critical condition.

According to a release, Milwaukee Police Officers, along with federal agents from the FBI and DEA, were patrolling North 91st Street and West Silver Spring Drive around 1:30 p.m. Wednesday regarding a possible drug deal when they witnessed a vehicle in an ongoing investigation.
The suspect vehicle was driven by a 31-year-old man who is one of the suspects in the investigation, and he reportedly fled officers on foot after being followed to North 106th Street.
Officers reportedly found the suspect in a fenced-off area next to a garage, where he resisted arrest and ignored orders from officers, who used a dog to assist. According to the release, the dog ‘may have bitten the suspect.’
Officers say it’s believed that the suspect ingested illegal drugs before or during the attempted arrest, which caused him to fall unconscious, prompting life-saving measures and the use of Narcan. The suspect is in the hospital in critical condition.

Multiple authorities involved were hospitalized after being exposed to the substance, but have since been released, as the following four officers involved will be placed on administrative duty per standard policy:
- 34-year-old man—7+ years of service
- 30-year-old man—7+ years of service
- 27-year-old man—9+ years of service
- 35-year-old man—9+ years of service
The investigation is still ongoing, and officials say that official video footage from officers will be released regarding the incident.
