FOND DU LAC, Wis. (WFRV) – Crews responded to a residential fire Monday afternoon on West Division Street that left a home uninhabitable but resulted in no injuries.
According to Fond du Lac Fire Rescue, firefighters were dispatched at 5:14 p.m. to 311 W. Division St. for a report of a structure fire.

Upon arrival, crews observed smoke coming from the rear door of the residence. Firefighters entered the home and located a fire in the rear entry area. The fire was brought under control within 15 minutes and confined to the area of origin.
Officials reported moderate fire damage to the rear entryway and smoke damage throughout the residence. Two occupants were home at the time and were located on the second floor. No civilian or firefighter injuries were reported.
Crews conducted overhaul operations to extinguish hidden hot spots inside the walls. No neighboring structures were affected.
The Red Cross was contacted to assist five occupants, as the home has been deemed uninhabitable.

Smoke detectors were present and functioning. Fire officials reminded residents to regularly test smoke alarms, change batteries as needed and ensure detectors are installed on every floor and inside bedrooms.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation. The Fond du Lac Police Department assisted with traffic control and the investigation.
