Wisconsin pulp mill to close, company cites rising costs and constraints

(WFRV) – A pulp mill in Mosinee, as well as two paper machines, are expected to close in the summer.

According to a letter sent to the Wisconsin Department of Workforce Development, Ahlstrom is closing a pulp mill and two paper machines. The closure is at the Mosinee plant on 100 Main Street.

The closure was prompted by rising operating costs, limited automation, and resource constraints, the company said.

Officials say the closing will take place or begin starting on June 30. This closure is expected to be permanent.

There are 28 positions reportedly being affected by this closure.
