Systemwide totals for the Winnebago system now stand at 1,371 sturgeon, including 187 juvenile females, 597 adult females and 587 males.
Officials said 43 adult females were harvested on the most recent day, leaving 62 adult females needed to reach the 90% harvest trigger for the entire Winnebago system. Participation is expected to decline due to forecasted rainfall, but spearers are encouraged to monitor harvest totals and potential season closures. Authorities also advise checking with local fishing clubs for updates on ice conditions and possible bridge closures.

Four additional fish weighing more than 100 pounds were registered on Lake Winnebago. The largest was a 135.3-pound, 78.5-inch F4 female speared by Zachary Boehnlein and registered at the Downtown Oshkosh station.
As changing weather conditions prompt some spearers to remove their shacks, others are celebrating successful harvests. Among them was Shawn Wendt, who harvested his sturgeon using a harpoon rather than a traditional sturgeon spear.
