BRUSSELS, Wis. (WFRV) – A local fire department is in mourning after the death of a firefighter amidst a courageous battle with cancer.
The Brussels Union Gardner (BUG) Fire Department announced on Thursday the death of Firefighter Ryan Chaudoir, who passed away after a long battle with cancer.
The post paid homage to Chaudoir, who as Fire Chief Curt Vandertie put it, was a brother to the department’s staff.
“Ryan was a dedicated Firefighter, loving husband, dad, brother, son and the most genuine friend anyone could ever hope for,” Chief Vandertie said in the post. “His contagious smile, his kind laughter and helping hand are forever ingrained in us.”
The post was filled quickly with love and support in the comments from local fire departments and residents alike.
