(WFRV) – A plant in southern Wisconsin announced that it is permanently closing in the near future, and over 200 positions are expected to be eliminated.

According to a letter sent to the Wisconsin Department of Workforce Development, Cargill Meat Solutions Corporation is permanently closing its protein processing plant. The plant is located at 200 South Emmber Lane in Milwaukee.
The letter says the plant closure is expected to result in the elimination of around 221 positions. The company reportedly expects to start the process of winding down operations ‘soon’.
Production is scheduled to stop on our around April 17 and the plant will be fully closed around May 31.
Employees who are impacted can apply for open jobs at other Cargill facilities, the letter said. Those who leave the company from this plant are reportedly eligible for a severance package.
