GREEN BAY, Wis. (WFRV) – Students in Green Bay got the chance to help socialize new rescue dogs while also working on their own social-emotional learning.

First-grade students at Fort Howard Elementary School visited with new rescue dogs at the Lucky 7 Dog Rescue on Monday. The visit allowed students to interact with the dogs, helping the students develop their social-emotional learning skills while also helping the dogs get acclimated to new people.
Oh, it’s heartwarming, because they not only get to work on skills they’re learning in the classroom in the real world. But also being able to be a part of the community and help with the puppies with socialization. And they sometimes write letters to help them get adopted, and they get to be a part of that process, so it’s really cool.

The students were also said to have put together treat bags for a Valentine’s Day event with the Petal Pusher Floral Boutique.
