KAUKAUNA, Wis. (WFRV) – Inside Kaukauna High School, the ‘ghost’ stories don’t end when the bell rings.
Wisconsin deputy joins kids in a fun day of sledding while on patrol shift
Principal Aaron Herm started a podcast called Ghost Stories, allowing students and staff to talk about what makes the high school unique.
“The idea is to be able to showcase all the great things happening at this school, and allow me to meet people and have conversations with people I wouldn’t have gotten to have,” Herm said.
The episodes focus on clubs, bands and students who sit at the desks.
“Being a principal is my dream job, and I want to have fun doing it,” Herm said. “This is my passion project, this is one way I can get deeper with people with a podcast conversation rather than a hallway conversation.”
That connection is drawing students in. Two sophomores who did a podcast in class were inspired to take their learning one step further and hop on a show.
The students, Zoe Kruchoski and Ashlynn Unser, approached Herm about doing a podcast about the high school experience. They said sitting down and talking about the different experiences at the high school showcases all the different people to be there.
“Some of us do sports, band choir, it’s a whole different aspect of what people experience,” Krutchoski said. “We all experience high school differently, and talking about it brings us closer, I feel,” Unser said.
Kaukauna High School Psychologist Tina Scott says the stories help different voices in the school shine.
“Listening to some of the other podcasts and knowing all that’s going on with the band or the musical, it [just] gives us an opportunity to know what’s going on in high school,” Scott said.
For Herm, the most meaningful part is hearing students come forward to tell their story.

“What’s really neat is seeing students coming up to me and saying I want to be a part of that,” Herm said.
