Mayor Genrich expressed gratitude to Senator Tammy Baldwin (D-Wisconsin) and Representative Tony Wied (R-WI-08), calling it a critical investment in public safety infrastructure.
“This federal support comes at a critical time as we work to replace the now-closed Fire Station 1 and outdated Fire Station 3 with a modern facility that will serve our community for decades to come,” Genrich said via a release.
The new station will combine operations from Fire Station 3 and the Green Bay Metro Fire Department’s leadership staff, which is in City Hall. The current estimated cost of a new station is about $19 million.

In July 2025, demolition kicked off at the former Badger Sheet Metal property on South Broadway, where the new station is set to be built. The new station is designed as a three-story building with state-of-the-art technology and details.
The funding is from the final Fiscal Year 2026 appropriations bill that passed by both the United States Senate and House of Representatives, and was signed by President Donald Trump on Tuesday.
