MENASHA, Wis. (WFRV) – Following 17 years of service with the Menasha Police Department, Police Chief Nick Thorn is stepping down from his role.

In a release from the Menasha Police Department, Chief Thorn says the decision comes after careful consideration and much reflection on the increasing demands of being Police Chief and his desire to ensure both the city and his family receive the attention and leadership they deserve.
Serving the City of Menasha for the past 17 years has been one of the the greatest honor of my professional career. I am sincerely grateful for the trust placed in me by the Mayor, Common Council, City leadership, and the community, and I am proud of the work accomplished by the men and women of the Menasha Police Department.

Chief Thorn adds that he remains committed to supporting a smooth and orderly transition and will help assist in any way possible to keep continued stability and success within the department.
Officials with the City of Menasha say they will be announcing further details about a selection process for the next Police Chief at a later date.
