(KTLA) – Federal health officials are investigating a salmonella outbreak linked to two superfood supplements that has sickened 65 people across 28 states, including California.
The FDA and CDC said Thursday that the illnesses have been tied to products sold under the Live It Up and Why Not Natural brands. The supplements were sold on the companies’ websites as well as on Amazon, eBay and Walmart.

At least 14 people have been hospitalized, and no deaths have been reported, officials said.

Investigators traced the contamination to moringa leaf powder used in both products. Consumers and retailers are urged to thoroughly clean and sanitize any surfaces or containers that may have come into contact with the supplements.
The FDA advised anyone who purchased the super greens with expiration dates from August 2026 to January 2028, or the superfood capsules with a July 2028 expiration date, to stop using them and throw them away.
“FDA is working with the firms to determine a root cause of the contamination and remove affected products from the market,” the agency said in a statement.
