GREEN BAY, Wis. (WFRV) – A banner, filled with inspirational words of encouragement, hangs in front of Preble High School to honor Alex Pretti, a fellow hornet.
The memorial began earlier this week, with flowers, strong messages, and candles, after Pretti was in a shooting in Minneapolis earlier in the month.
The students who organized this, they said that the incident hit really close to home.

“It was heartbreaking. I couldn’t get myself to fully process it at first; it hit too close to home, and even though it wasn’t in the state, knowing he was a Preble alumnus, it hurt a lot knowing that he walked the same halls as us. It was devastating to say the least,” said Preble High School senior Emalae Mitchell.
The banner serves as a chance to allow the community to heal and remember one of their own.
“The community struggled so much to accept this loss and to process these emotions, and I think that my friend and I found that it was very, very important for people to have an outlet to express their emotions,” said classmate Danna Wozniak.
