MENASHA, Wis. (WFRV) – With dangerously frigid temps ahead, Special Olympics Wisconsin has decided to cancel all plunging for both 2026 Fox Valley Polar Plunge days.
Special Olympics officials made the cancellation announcement on Wednesday, ahead of Friday and Saturday’s extreme temperatures.
“Special Olympics Wisconsin has made the difficult but necessary decision to cancel all plunging for both days of the 2026 Fox Valley Polar Plunge for Special Olympics Wisconsin,” officials stated. “The decision was made in close coordination with our safety team, weather experts, and local partners, with the safety of all participants, volunteers, and vendor partners as our top priority.”
Ahead of dangerously cold weather, popular Green Bay pizza place will close for one day
The announcement came with some good news, however. With the physical Plunge being cancelled, all indoor Polar Plunge festivities are still scheduled at Waverly Beach Bar & Grille in Menasha on Friday and Saturday.
Event goers can still plan on joining in on the fundraising efforts and make an impact for the Special Olympics Wisconsin athletes.
