STURGEON BAY, Wis. (WFRV) – A 69-year-old Sturgeon Bay man (previously listed with a De Pere address) is set for a two-day jury trial on child sex crime charges.
16-year-old charged as an adult & with reckless homicide in Marinette 13-year-old’s drowning
Court records show that Joseph Schinkten was in court on Tuesday, February 24, for his arraignment hearing as he pleaded not guilty to two second-degree child sexual assault charges and a charge of possessing child pornography.
The charges stem from allegations that he was in a sexual relationship with a teenager, who told an officer about the alleged sexual contact at Schinkten’s condo and other locations.

The two reportedly knew each other before the alleged incidents occurred. Schinkten’s court schedule is as follows:
- Final pre-trial hearing – April 28, 2026 – 11:30 a.m.
- Jury trial – May 6, May 7, 2026 – 8:15 a.m.
