MILWAUKEE, Wis. (WFRV) – A 29-year-old Wisconsin woman accused of beating her own mother to death with a rock is being ordered to a treatment center as officials say she must have ‘competency’ restored.
Court records show that Lauren Spors was not in court as she was still in custody, and the doctor’s report deemed that she still lacks the capacity to understand proceedings and assist in her defense; however, officials say she will regain and eventually restore competency.
The court adjourned and set an additional review hearing for May 22 at 8:30 a.m., while proceedings are still suspended.

MILWAUKEE, Wis. (WFRV) – A 29-year-old Wisconsin woman accused of beating her own mother to death with a rock is being ordered to a treatment center as officials say she must have ‘competency’ restored.
Court records show that Lauren Spors was found to lack the ‘substantial capacity to understand court proceedings or to assist in her own defense.’ As a result, hearings have been suspended.

According to the records, Spors was ordered to be committed to the Department of Health and Family Services for Institutional Care to have her competency restored within a time frame; however, she was put into Milwaukee County Sheriff’s Office custody for transportation.
As the case is suspended, the next listed court date is on February 27, 2026, at 8:30 a.m. for a return of a doctor’s report.
