Parise Larry, who faces 16 felony charges and one misdemeanor charge, stemming from his alleged involvement in a shooting that killed a 20-year-old woman, Tatyanna PM Zech, and injured two others on May 7, 2023.
During the hearing, the defense waived their opening statements, so prosecutors spoke, with Fond du Lac County District Attorney Eric Toney speaking on behalf of the prosecution. DA Toney said that he expects witnesses to say that Tatyanna wasn’t the intended target.
DA Toney’s opening statements lasted around 15 minutes, and he focused it not on legal precedent or law, but on what jurors may hear during the trial.
“What I expect that you’re going to hear from some of these witnesses is that Keyshawn Johnson was the intended target,” DA Toney. “But, Tatyanna was the one struck with a single bullet, hitting her in the head and killing her.”
The trial, according to court records, is scheduled to go on daily (with the exception of Saturdays and Sundays) until October 17.
