“The Appleton Fire Department would like to remind residents that the NFPA (National Fire Protection Association) recommends soaking used or unused fireworks in water for a period of time (ideally overnight) before disposal to prevent trash fires and potential hazards. After soaking, they should be wrapped in plastic bags (ideally two) and placed in the regular trash,” Appleton FD’s release concluded.
