BELOIT, Wis. (WFV) – One person is now in custody for reckless homicide following a fatal crash in southern Wisconsin.
According to the Beloit Police Department, officers responded on May 4 to reports of a single-vehicle crash on the 1300 block of Woodward Avenue that resulted in the death of a passenger.
Officials say a silver pickup truck had lost control and crashed while driving at a high rate of speed. Police arriving first on the scene found the truck heavily damaged inside a cemetery, where the truck had hit and damaged several headstones.

The passenger of the vehicle suffered serious injuries and was extricated by emergency personnel before being taken to a local hospital, where he later died from his injuries. The driver of the truck was said to have fled from the scene on foot.
Police eventually identified the driver of the truck and arrested Steven R. Meade II for 1st-Degree reckless homicide and a probation violation.
