DE PERE, Wis. (WFRV) – Officials with the Unified School District of De Pere have announced the current superintendent’s plans to step down at the end of the school year.
According to a release, Dr. Christopher Thompson, the superintendent of the Unified School of De Pere, shared with the Board of Education at Monday night’s meeting his intentions of stepping down from his position.

Dr. Thompson is said to have a critical role in garnering community support for the passage of the school district’s operational referendum and critical maintenance/facilities referendum in 2024.
He is also said to have worked diligently alongside the Board of Education, district staff, and district administrators to maintain high academic and extracurricular standards.
On behalf of the Board, we would like to thank Chris for the time he spent leading the District. During his tenure, USDD has seen its strong academic performance reach new heights. We are now ranked among the top ten 4K-12 school districts in Wisconsin, based on the Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction’s annual report cards.

Dr. Thompson is expected to officially step down from his current position as superintendent following the end of the 2025-26 school year.
