WEYAUWEGA, Wis. (WFRV) – Authorities say alcohol is believed to be a factor in a fatal head-on crash with a semi truck early Tuesday morning in Waupaca County.
According to a release from the Waupaca County Sheriff’s Office, deputies were called at 1:36 a.m. to Highway 10 near Old Highway 49 in the Township of Weyauwega for reports of a head-on crash with a semi truck.
Officials say an initial investigation shows that a wrong-way driver was heading westbound in the eastbound lanes of Highway 10 before crashing head-on with a semi truck.

The driver of the wrong-way vehicle was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the semi truck was not hurt in the crash and is said to be cooperating with the ongoing investigation. Alcohol is believed to be a factor in the crash.
While on the scene of the crash, another vehicle was seen disregarding traffic control and barricades and continuing into the closed section of the highway.
Deputies stopped the vehicle, and the driver was arrested for several violations, including reckless endangerment and driving with a revoked license.
