(WFRV) – A tornado confirmed by WFRV’s CBS affiliate in Wausau, WSAW, has damaged about 75 homes.
According to WSAW, Ringle Fire Chief Chris Kielman said people were trapped in basements, but at this time, no injuries or deaths have been reported.
Much of the destruction was reportedly in a subdivision, with an elementary school nearby sustaining some damage.
Displaced residents at the time have been told to go to DC Everest Middle School, which has been set up as a shelter by the United Way of Marathon County at 9302 Schofield Avenue.
Photographs shared by the Kronenwetter Police Department showcased some of the damage that the tornado left, after it reportedly started in the Village of Kronenwetter and also impacted Ringle.
Marathon County Sheriff Chad Billeb said he’d never seen anything like this in his time, adding that many people will need help.
