WAUKESHA, Wis. (WFRV) – Authorities in southern Wisconsin announced that a man died from what is believed to be a lightning strike during severe weather throughout the state.
According to the Waukesha Police Department, on April 15 around 7:45 p.m. first responders were sent to a report of a man down at a business in the 200 block of Golf Road. At the time of the incident, the area had heavy rainfall with ‘significant’ thunder and lightning.

When officers got the scene, a man in his 40s was found unresponsive. It was later learned that the man may have been struck by lightning.
The release says he was sent to a local hospital and later died from his injuries.
Preliminary information showed the man was struck by lightning while walking through a parking lot, the release said. The man is believed to be from Wisconsin, but authorities are working to identify him.
Police described the incident as ‘tragic’ and ‘rare’.
