(WFRV) – Multiple local organizations came together on Wednesday for a summit as they look to address the homelessness crisis in Brown County.
Appleton advances plans for emergency homeless shelter
The Homelessness and Housing Coalition hosted the summit to discuss the ongoing crisis in the county, with the hopes of bringing more people together to identify gaps and where help is most needed.
We did see a downward trend in people experiencing homelessness, but there’s other trends that are going up, like unsheltered homelessness. So really understanding where in our community is that gap of people experiencing unsheltered homelessness. We’re seeing increases in people experiencing homelessness with disabilities.

According to the latest unsheltered point-in-time count, the total number of people experiencing unsheltered homelessness throughout Brown County is nearly 240.
