STURTEVANT, Wis. (WFRV) – Authorities have released body camera footage from a late-night apartment fire in Wisconsin that led to the rescue of several occupants.
According to the Racine County Sheriff’s Office, deputies were dispatched shortly after 10:45 p.m. to a multi-unit apartment building in the 3000 block of 86th Street in Sturtevant for a report of a second-floor unit fully engulfed in flames.

When deputies arrived, they immediately began evacuating residents. Two deputies attempted to breach the apartment door where the fire appeared to have started, but heavy smoke and flames forced them to exit the building.
Deputies established a collection area outside and began accounting for residents using a roster. During that process, it was determined that occupants from three apartments were initially unaccounted for.
As fire crews worked to extinguish the blaze, firefighters heard a person screaming from an apartment believed to be the origin of the fire. They located and rescued a 64-year-old woman, who was treated at the scene and transported to a nearby hospital.
Two deputies who were forced out of the building due to heavy smoke later sought treatment at a local emergency room for smoke inhalation.
No other injuries were reported.
