SUPERIOR, Wis. (WFRV) – The Wisconsin Department of Justice’s (DOJ) Division of Criminal Investigation (DCI) says it’s investigating an officer-involved death from Tuesday night.
According to a release, the incident occurred in the northwestern Wisconsin city of Superior just before 10 p.m., when an officer with the Superior Police Department reportedly found a wanted suspect along with two additional suspects.

One of the involved suspects attempted to flee, prompting a fight between the officer and the suspect. According to the release, the officer fired their weapon and struck the individual, who was rendered life-saving measures before being pronounced dead at the scene.
One gun was recovered at the scene, and the officer was hospitalized in stable condition. Officials say the officer was wearing a body camera and will be placed on paid administrative leave per agency policy.
The investigation is under review by the DCI along with a Crime Response Specialist and the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office.
