(WFRV) – As snow continues to melt and temperatures begin to rise, it’s time for one of those dreaded parts of the year for Wisconsin drivers—construction season.
Northeast Wisconsin experts urge spring lawn equipment tune-ups to avoid costly repairs
According to the Wisconsin Department of Transportation (WisDOT), there are over 400 expected projects for the upcoming construction season, including several here in northeast Wisconsin.
Some of the most significant projects WisDOT highlighted include the ongoing I-41 expansion between Appleton and De Pere, as well as work on WIS 21 between Omro and Oshkosh, with closures and detours until at least November.
Other significant projects include resurfacing work on I-43 in Sheboygan County, with expected lane restrictions through November, and the final year of the I-41 rebuild in Milwaukee County, which includes long-term lane closures.
As with all construction, officials urge safety in work zones, including strict speed limits and avoiding the use of handheld devices at all times, especially in a work space. Drivers must also move over or slow down if moving is impossible.

Officials also say that WisDOT Safety Patrol will likely be out and about, especially along parts of I-41 in Brown and Outagamie Counties, as well as I-41 and I-94 in Milwaukee County.
