MARINETTE, Wis. (WFRV) – The historic blizzard is proving to be a strong force in northeast Wisconsin, as officials in Marinette County say they are pulling their plows off the roadways.
According to a release from the Marinette County Sheriff’s Office, Sheriff Miller says he has been advised that highway crews are pulling the plow trucks off the roadways at this time due to the current blizzard-like conditions.
Thousands without power, WPS, We Energies: “We are working around the clock.”
With the plows being pulled off the roadways, emergency personnel may not be able to reach those who become stuck out on the roads, leaving them stranded for some time.
Sheriff Miller asks everyone to “refrain from travel” until after the snowstorm passes and plows are able to get back out and safely plow the roadways.
He adds that two officers are currently out on snowmobiles and will respond only to emergency calls as best as they can. All other calls will remain holding until the roads are able to be cleared.
