MARINETTE, Wis. (WFRV) — Residents in northeastern Wisconsin are digging out after a late-season snowfall dropped more than six inches of snow in Marinette on Friday.

The snowfall quickly piled up across the area, forcing residents to pull winter gear back out and spend much of the day clearing driveways and sidewalks.
“I thought, ‘Eh, maybe it won’t be so bad,’” Marinette resident Del Martin said. “But then I looked out and a tree was just heaped over.”
Several community members said the snow was especially difficult to manage because of its weight.
Longtime resident Todd Oleszak referred to it as “heart attack snow” because of how heavy it was.
“Snow throwers really don’t work well in this snow,” Oleszak said.
The snowfall comes just days after warmer weather had some people thinking winter might finally be over. Still, longtime residents like Martin and Oleszak said late-season snow is nothing unusual for Wisconsin.

“Everyone thinks the snowfall is over now. No, no,” Martin said. “I don’t worry about it anymore. You just get used to it.”
“The snow is expected. I never hold my breath this time of year,” Oleszak said.
